After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I eventually noticed that all of my custom LaunchAgents had stopped running. When I tried to run them manually, I would just get a generic “nothing to load” error. Usually, that error implies you have a malformed plist file, but in this case plutil -lint reported that the files were valid.
After a ton of googling and comparing my own plist files against working vendor supplied plists on my system, I eventually discovered the problem.
In Lion and earlier, this was totally valid:
In Mountain Lion, the above will silently fail and you should instead use:
Case sensitivity is the future.
Since I wasted a bunch of time on this and google searches for various permutations of “mountain lion launchd” turned up nothing, I’m hoping that this blog post (and my related git commit) will help someone else who happens upon this “feature”.
About a year ago, I met someone on a bus on the Cornell University campus who liked my blue hair, and asked me how I managed to get it such a vibrant color. I referred him to my Technicolor hair how-to and that was the last I heard from him.
I met you on the bus and commented about how I wanted to highlight my hair blue. You gave me some advice and told me to let you know how it went so check it out. Attached are a couple pics. I think it went really well, definitely better than I expected. Thanks for your expert opinions :D
p.s. there are bugs in all my pics because these were taken for my entomology portfolio ^_^ and bugs just rock in general
I thought this was cool, so I asked for (and received) permission to share it here.
As you may be aware, I have recently reacquired purple hair:
I know that my last ‘recent photos’ post was in July. My only real excuse is that I’ve moved across a continent since then, and have, for the most part, had way too many things related to that going on to pursue my photography habit to any real extent.
LAME, I know. If anything, moving across the country should have given me many more things to take pictures of! And it probably did. But I was too lame to take many pictures of them. :)
ANYWAY, believe it or not I have actually taken some photos during the last few months, just not frequently enough to warrant posting about it. They have all been noted in my changelog and posted to flickr though, if you are interested.
Andrea and Jason got married last weekend, and I borrowed some nice cameras from work to document the happy occasion. All of the photos are available on Flickr, but here are some of my favorites
The air up there
After nearly a year of planning, I’ve finally made it out to Portland! Currently I’m just here for two weeks interviewing for jobs and attending OSBridge next week, but hopefully I will be here on a more permanent basis in the near future. I just arrived last night and have been pretty busy since, so for now pictures from the plane ride will have to suffice…
