An inspiring story in which a young girl goes out of her way to impress a boy who’s not worth the effort, proves she’s better than him, and moves on with her life. Via Neatorama.

- What a horrible night to have a curse. #
- Back at work. Vacation far too short. Hoping Cornell goes to four day work weeks @ 80% pay: http://tinyurl.com/9ntxx3 #
- Apparently while the students are away, the deer will curl up and go to sleep in the ag quad. #
- Wondering if there’s a way to see the Kmix slider with a dark theme. Or, looking for an alternative to Kmix. #
- Much ado about nothing today in Ithaca. #

- Annoyed. A friend seems to have very little respect, and more than a bit of skill at screwing things up. #
- Sooo…. Drunk! #
- Had a fun time in the commons: got some pizza, saw a movie, went to the toy store, and the toy store, and the toy store! #

If you’re curious or confused…
I’m familiar with this song from my Dr. Demento days, but this is the first I’ve seen of the advert, which got sifted today.
From the YouTube description:
This infamously botched Public Service Announcement from 1969 confused an entire generation of children into thinking that they too can be attractive, successful, and happy, if only they could get their hands on VD… whatever it is…
I especially like the pregnant women, which suggests to me that they are warning you that pregnancy is a VD (technically it is, isn’t it?); and was rather creeped out by the smiling VD-ridden baby. I’m really hoping they were suggesting it got VD from the mother, because as terrible as that is, it’s better than any alternative.
I can has logic
I got 14/15 (93%) on this logic test I found over at the presurfer. Of course, a handful of philosophy courses and a few years of programming courses in college gave me an idea of the sorts of tactics used by logic quizzes.
Some people are QQing about the wording of the questions, but that’s the whole point of the thing- to pay attention and determine the validity of the statements given the supplied conditions. The statements need not be true, they just need to follow from the premises (which are accepted, even if not true).
I have a feeling this may trigger a(nother) debate on the definition of ‘valid’.

- One day, I’ll learn that bus schedules should be scrutinized, not glanced at. #
- Back in Westwood. We’ve been to many strange places today, yessir! #
- Adventures abound, today. Since I didn’t wake up until ~14:00, I’m curious to see how the upcoming lack of daylight will affect things. #
- Ended up staying in tonight on account of the weather. Still looks to be a fun night, though. #
- My New Year’s resolution is to skip New Year’s celebrations as much as possible next year. Why do I need a holiday to booze up? Screw that! #
- Surprisingly, the Ithaca Ale House has rather good calamari. #
- We must move forward, not backward; upward, not forward; and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom! #
