Yesterday, I saw Voltaire perform at the Fetish Ball at Trexx in Syracuse. His show was entertaining as always, but some loud drunken fools kept disturbing the show with their drunken tomfoolery in front of the stage. Why someone would pay to go to a show that they stand up front and talk through (all the while drunkenly lolling about into everyone nearby) without even facing the stage, I’ll never understand.
Other than that, the night was great fun. The fetish aspect was very low key compared to what I’ve seen at The Haunt, which was fine by me as I prefer music to fetish any day.
Sometime early the next morning, Voltaire went out with about ten of us from Nekropolis to a diner and had some breakfast. We were all very professional and adult-like, and any initial fawning was negligible, and quickly nixed. There was no glomping.
I’m going to see Voltaire again next weekend, at the Wicked Winter Faire (being an amalgamation of varied renaissance, pirate, ninja, and Lovecraftian sundries) in Edison, NJ. Unfortunately, that event will probably not be followed with a similar meal, but the show will probably have less stupid people being stupid, and one can never have too much Voltaire :)
