Here’s this weeks:
Holy crap. If only I had hopes for the new Eva movie looking this good. This movie better be coming stateside.
For some reason I didn’t get the email yesterday, so here’s the five, albeit a day later than usual.
If you…
1. …owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve?
Well, I don’t think I could get away with making/serving Chinese or Japanese cuisine, but Italian would be fun.
2. …owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell?
Video games, video game merchandise/memoribilia, and generic comic book/bad movie crap.
3. …wrote a book, what genre would it be?
Science fiction.
4. …ran a school, what would you teach?
How not to suck at using computers- giving options on which platforms (Windows,Mac/Linux/other *nix) they would like to specialize in. Moving on to programming, starting with Logo and Perl and moving on to C.
5. …recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it?
Ever hear the Space Lady‘s Major Tom? Yeah, stuff like that :)
If anyone has any problems docking gkrellm, try downgrading your version of gtk. Docking doesn’t work properlly in Fluxbox with gtk+-2.4, but it’s fine with gtk+-2.2.4-r1 (which seem to be the most recent two versions available for Gentoo).
Just for future reference. (‘Cuz when I tried to google the problem I found no information about it. So now someone else hopefully will)
I didn’t go to work today on account of the killer death headache I woke up with and was inflicted with for most of the day. It was an annoyance until 1. Then it was well nigh unbearable until 3. Then it started fizzling out (yay!)
Now I feel fine. Here’s hoping that when I wake up tomorrow it hasn’t returned. Oh, here’s also hoping that my laundry is dry by then (but that’s another story….)
I downloaded the UT 2004 demo, and it sucks on my computer. The GL is making all sorts of triangles all over the place that obfuscate the view and make the game nearly impossible to play. Bah! I’m really debating just nixing Slack and starting over on this computer with Gentoo, it would be faster at least, but I do like Slack (besides, my computer has a Slackware sticker on it that I don’t want to take off).
Oh well. At least Chris found some Bawls that had gotten forgotten in the closet- more caffeine for me!
I found out today that in a few short months, both of the other programmers in my department will be leaving for one reason or another. Which will make me the senior programmer.
Which is a bit disconcerting because I know very little about the internals of how the more hirsute examples of the code here works, and even less about the genetics it was designed to manage and represent.
Looks like I’ve got my work cut out for me….. should be fun :)
I just got this email from Cornell about one of those fake mailserver virus scams that’s been floating about. But, that’s inconsequential- I am posting this because Cornell‘s warning response made me laugh, so I figured others may enjoy it as well: (emphasis mine)
Yep, folks- this is Ivy League :)
I shouldn’t talk. $DEITY knows that I’ve written redundantly redundant (or just plain stupid) things before in my haste to post something. But, it’s all in good fun, right? ;)
I was going to make a random filler post about my new Leatherman, the nifty Korn anti-RIAA music video (steal it!, courtesy of Adam and BoingBoing), and possibly even Last Exile (which I really like, but kept getting distracted and missing episodes, even when they were reshown earlier tonight), but I’m tired and have to go to bed.
Wait, I just did make a random filler post about all that, didn’t I? Well, that was convenient.
