What D&D Character are You?

Read on to see my results. I don’t think they are incredibly accurate, but since I have never played D&D (not for lack of trying) I really don’t know ;)

At least I just found out that one of my coworkers is a big roleplayer, and I do still have that Player’s Handbook I’m borrowing from Mr. Beth….. so I suppose there’s always hope :)

Yay cheap stuff

So, I bought some interesting/inexpensive stuff today.

First, I needed some new clothes so I went to the thrift store. That in itself usually isn’t that interesting, but while I was there I found…. Star Trek trading cards! They were selling a huge box full (~258) for $4, so of course I had to get it. After sorting through it, its predictably mostly doubles (triples, etc.), but I do have almost one complete set; the only cards I am missing are: 11, 57, 70, S2, S3, S4, and S5. That’s out of a full set of 95 cards.

Deciding I needed to get binder pages to display my new collection (not to mention food), I went to the mall with Chris. Unfortunately, there was no luck finding the pages I need, but I did get some other cool stuff- a nifty and useful water bottle, some oils (it’s about damned time!), and the Clerks Animated Series on DVD.

In total I spent about $42 (if math and memory serve) for all of the above stuff, plus the aforementioned clothes. Not too shabby :)

Friday Five

I know I haven’t been posting much recently…. I’ve been busy with the post-moving-new-job things.

Anyway, here’s this week’s five.

1. What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done?
Up and moving to Ithaca without guarantee of work, etc., I suppose.

2. What one thing would you like to try that your mother/friend/significant other would never approve of?
Cybernetic implants, replacing all my pesky biological bits with superior mechanical equivalents.

3. On a scale of 1-10, what’s your risk factor? (1=never take risks, 10=it’s a lifestyle)
2.

4. What’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you as a result of being bold/risky?
Getting a job at Cornell that should prove to be very interesting and well-nigh perfect for me (at least as close as such things ever get).

5. … and what’s the worst?
Staying with a former company that was paying me very little and going nowhere, wasting over a year of my life and tying me into a draconian non-compete agreement.

PIctures

Rememebr last week when I said I would make myself one of these? Well, while I was back in NJ, I did:

Cate5 Bracelet

I just stripped the outer casing from the cable, twisted the ends, fastened the clasps through some extra wire, held it temporarily with rubber cement, used permanent wire ties for strength, and covered them with hot glue (for effect, mostly). My only problems with it are that I misjudged, so it’s a bit too big for me (I don’t need the fastener, it just slides on and off), and the hot glue dried yellow instead of clear (oh, well).

I still stand by my earlier opinion that making your own is much cooler than buying one (especially for ~$13).
