Not THAT bad…..

Well, I saw The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen last night in New Brunswick. It wasn’t a good movie, really, but it also wasn’t as bad as people have been saying it was (of course, only Rob and I seem to agree on this, everyone else seems to think that yes, it is that bad).

In my opinion, the movie was much better than The Hulk, at the very least. The major problems I saw with it were the general lack of detail (e.g. neglecting to put any CG animation in obvious backdrops to make them slightly less obvious; and neglecting to make stuff [like sparks] bounce off of/land on the invisible man [when they are supposed to be hurting him]), and the destruction of character cannon (which would be a problem inherited from the original comic, so I shouldn’t blame the movie). Overall, the movie was fun to watch (for a good portion of it, anyway), if not incredibly silly and partially mindless. To give it credit, it DID have a plot- albeit one about as well done as what could be seen in a standard episode of the Power Rangers. Of course, it also ‘blows shit up’ pretty good, so if you like shiny things (and aren’t very picky otherwise) you may find it worth the price of admission. Otherwise you’ll probably be happier skipping this one entirely.

Oh, and ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea‘ != ‘Moby Dick‘, mmmkay? Jokes must have at least some nominal relevance to be funny, unless of course you are trying to demonstrate how analphabetic the average person is.

Oh well, now to try and pick up where I left off before work followed me home (twice). Grrr.

So after Ishmael was rescued at the end of Moby Dick, what do you think he did? Retired? Of course not! He signed on with Captain Nemo! As a pilot. Like, duh!

    I mean, um, what movie?
